Inside Our BBQ Cleaning Process

Here's a detailed look at each area we clean — what it is, what we actually do, and why it makes a real difference.

— DEEP & PARTIAL

1. Grates Cleaning

The cooking grates are in direct contact with your food — so a thorough clean matters beyond appearances. We remove grease, carbonized food particles, and residue that have built up across the cooking surface. Clean grates mean better hygiene, less sticking, and food that tastes the way it should — not like last month's cookout.

— DEEP & PARTIAL

2. Heating Plates Cleaning

Heating plates (also called flavorizer bars) sit directly above the burners. They protect the burners from grease drips and distribute heat across the cooking surface. Over time, they accumulate heavy layers of baked-on grease — the kind household products simply can't cut through. We clean these thoroughly to restore even heat distribution and eliminate a major source of flare-ups.

— DEEP & PARTIAL

3. Scrubbing

Hands-on scrubbing of the interior surfaces — walls, base, and accessible internal components of the grill body. This tackles areas where grease has polymerized onto the metal and can't be removed by vacuuming alone. It's the manual effort that gets into corners and surfaces that cleaning products reach but can't fully lift without physical action.

— DEEP & PARTIAL

4. Vacuuming the Body

We vacuum the interior of the grill to remove loose debris, ash, food particles, and residue that settle inside the body over time. This step clears out the loose material that scrubbing loosens, ensuring the interior is completely cleared by the end of the service — not just moved around.

— DEEP & PARTIAL

5. Tray Cleaning

The drip tray collects all the grease and fat that drips down during cooking. When full or heavily coated, it's one of the primary fire hazards on any BBQ — an overflowing tray can ignite and cause a serious flare-up. We empty the tray and clean it properly so it can do its job safely again.

— DEEP & PARTIAL

6. Exterior Cleaning

The outside of your BBQ gets a full wipe-down — hood exterior, side shelves, legs, and all visible surfaces. Beyond aesthetics, keeping the exterior clean prevents grease from working its way into seams and accelerating corrosion over time, especially through Calgary's long winters.

— DEEP & PARTIAL

7. Polishing

Stainless steel surfaces are polished and treated after cleaning. This step removes water marks, fingerprints, and oxidation from stainless steel panels, restoring their appearance and providing a protective layer that makes future cleaning easier. It's the finishing touch that gives your grill that just-bought look.

⬇ The steps below are exclusive to the Deep Clean. These are the areas that accumulate the heaviest buildup and carry the most risk — and the reason most clients with a well-used grill choose the deep service.

— DEEP CLEAN ONLY

8. Burners Cleaning

The burners are the heart of your grill — they control heat output, flame distribution, and efficiency. Over time, burner ports get clogged with grease and debris, leading to uneven flames, reduced heat, and poor cooking results. We clean the burners thoroughly to restore consistent, even heat across the entire cooking surface. We also check for corrosion or damage and verify that all burners are functioning properly before we leave.

— DEEP CLEAN ONLY

9. Hood Cleaning

The inside of the hood is one of the most grease-saturated surfaces on any BBQ — every cook sends smoke, steam, and vaporized fat directly into it. Over time this builds up into a thick, dark layer of carbonized grease that drips back onto your food when the grill gets hot. We clean the full interior of the hood to remove this buildup entirely, which also prevents the acrid smell that comes from burning old residue at the start of a cookout.

— DEEP CLEAN ONLY

10. Steam Cleaning

Steam cleaning is used to lift and dissolve stubborn grease deposits that mechanical scrubbing alone can't fully remove. The high-temperature steam penetrates carbonized buildup, loosening it from metal surfaces without the need for harsh chemicals. This is particularly effective on the interior walls, heating plates, and hood — areas where grease has been baking on for multiple seasons. It's one of the key advantages of a professional service over anything you can replicate at home.

— DEEP CLEAN ONLY

11. Backside of the BBQ

The rear of the grill is almost never touched in a home cleaning routine — it's out of sight and hard to access. But it accumulates grease, grime, and weather residue just like the rest of the unit. Leaving it uncleaned accelerates rust and corrosion on the back panels and frame. We clean the backside as part of the deep service so the entire grill — not just the visible parts — is properly maintained.

— DEEP CLEAN ONLY

12. Storage Cleaning

The storage cabinet or shelf area beneath the grill collects grease drips, debris, and often a surprising amount of built-up grime over time. We clean out the storage area as part of the deep service — leaving the entire unit clean from top to bottom, not just the cooking components.

🔎 Also included on every service:

Vent inspection — we check and clean the vents to ensure proper airflow. Blocked vents cause heat to build up unevenly and can affect both performance and safety.

Ignition system check — we verify that your ignition is working reliably before we leave. If you've ever had to click five times to get a flame, a clean ignition makes a noticeable difference.

"By the end of a deep clean, your grill has been cleaned from the cooking grates down to the storage shelf — every surface, every component. Not just the parts you can see."
